We are looking to add a new member to our small but mighty team in the Villeray neighborhood of Montreal. Working in our beautiful & creative design studio, our new Part-Time Customer Service & Shipping Assistant will work closely with our founder and studio manager to answer customer inquiries across all platforms, in addition to handling all of our product shipping.

About Closet Case Patterns: We design chic sewing patterns for modern makers. With a focus on education and community, we believe in sewing as an agent for transformation and empowerment, and seek to spread the power of DIY design as far and wide as we can. Our small team does everything in-house in our studio in Montreal, from drafting and sample making to assembling patterns and exclusive fabric and notion kits for our customers around the world. Our patterns are available in hundreds of stores internationally, and our work has been featured in every major craft magazine, including Threads, Love Sewing and Sew News.

POSITION DUTIES

Customer Service Duties

– Maintain an active, accurate, neat and organized work area and mode of operating.
– Communicate effectively with customers to determine needs, and resolve all questions and concerns throughout their shopping experience. Questions range in nature from technical support for digital products and online classes, to fit and construction questions about our sewing patterns (training provided).
– Respond promptly to email inquiries.
– Monitor social media channels (Twitter, Facebook & Instagram) for customer service questions. Reply to instagram comments on a daily basis.
– Monitor customer satisfaction levels and continually look for ways to improve the customer experience and operating processes.
– Help moderate our new community Facebook group by maintaining community guidelines and flagging abusive or offensive posts.
– Consistently able to communicate with our Studio manager (and Founder) to coordinate and prioritize weekly tasks, as well as support all departmental needs from a customer service POV.
– Master internal systems to ensure efficient and accurate transaction processing.
– Other duties as assigned.

Shipping Duties

– Prepare all domestic and international shipments, as needed and on time.
– Arrange for transportation and courier pick-ups for shipments.
– Liaison via email with our wholesale customers and distributors regarding shipments.
– Maintain a well-organized workspace.
– Manage inventory of packaging materials.
– Ensure that all product[s] received are labeled correctly and shelved in the correct location.
– Assemble paper patterns and fabric and notions kits as needed.
– Maintain E-Commerce inventory accuracy at 98% or above.
– Monitor and/or initiate counts as necessary.
– Use of Excel when required for inventory control.

Other Duties

– Help tidy and organize studio as needed.
– May be asked to help with sample cutting and fabric preparation (training provided).

Qualifications

– Strong customer service and communication (verbal & writing) skills required.
– Organized and punctual with excellent follow-up and time management skills.
– Proactive thinker with the ability to troubleshoot and problem-solve issues in a positive manner.
– Team player with strong listening skills.
– Able to multi-task in a fast paced environment.
– Sociable, friendly with an engaging personality.
– Digitally savvy with strong computer literacy.
– Although training will be provided, sewing skills are always a plus!
– French language skills are an asset, although not mandatory.

Details

– Deadline to apply: Friday, November 10. You should be able to commence work in late November.
– 2-3 days (10-15) hours a week. This is a part-time position with the possibility of growing hours and responsibility for the right candidate.
– Compensation based on experience. Hours can be somewhat flexible, but ideally we need someone who can work Monday and Friday mornings to accommodate our US shipping schedule. There is a possibility to work from home for customer service duties on non-shipping days.
– Our beautiful, light and plant filled studio is a 15 minute walk from Jarry metro on St. Laurent boulevard.
