The Job:
Kafexpress is a well-established and rapidly growing office coffee service business looking for a dedicated and very detail-oriented delivery and service technician. We focus on delivering a wide spectrum of high end coffee solutions and accessories to numerous businesses in the Montreal area. We focus on delivering the best in value and quality and an excellent service that is second to none.
Basic refilling and cleaning of a variety of commercial coffee machines is the crux of this job description. This includes the additional delivery of coffee and accessories. Many clients also have snack and drink vending machines and some refilling of those is also required, however this is a secondary activity.
This is a great opportunity for a clean-cut person who can follow diverse and detailed instructions well, and yet enjoys being independent and autonomous. If you can accomplish the tasks needed, you will be left to do them of your own accord and schedule with no interference. Independence!
Our last hire for this position describes the work as « easy, low stress, flexible, » however, he is very, very, good at following instructions.
REQUIREMENTS:
Personality wise, we are looking for the following:
• Someone that can perform all of the tasks on the schedule for those particular clients for that day. That can be as simple and quick as putting some coffee beans in a machine or delivering a box of coffee, or as complex as replacing a pump in an espresso machine, on top of all the deliveries. Everything we leave must be impeccably clean and look beautiful. This is what our clients expect. An exemplary level of service.
• We are looking a person that is detail oriented, organized, potentially a self-proclaimed neat freak, and a general perfectionist, personality wise. We want people that are specifically focused on doing things right, and as efficiently as possible.
• We don’t want people that are continuously distracted with Facebook or texting or their cell phones. Our experience has shown that these will tend to make a lot of service errors due to the distraction and will simply not be able to complete the tasks required without numerous errors. These kinds of results will result in early dismissal.
• We value great quality of service and time and cost efficient thinking.
• You will need to like driving, and you will need to be patient and personable.
• You will be dealing with many clients with many different detailed delivery requirements that are clearly documented and detailed. If you do not consider yourself an organized person that can carefully read and meticulously follow the directions at each client site you will quickly cause problems. Our best employees read the instructions, follow them, and ask many questions at numerous times in the day if there are any uncertainties. They are not afraid to report any errors because we can usually solve issues on the spot, and are willing to go the extra mile to make the clients happy.
• If you tend to panic under pressure, or if you don’t ask for help when there are issues or problems, you will not do well in this type of environment. There is no room for « winging it. » Communication with head office and the client is paramount for success.

Critical competencies:
A working knowledge of Montreal streets that will help you get around efficiently.
A very good ability to communicate effectively and politely in spoken French and English.
The ability to trouble-shoot basic client problems that will help you fix a client issue on the spot.
A good level of comfort with using simple tools (screwdrivers, pliers) and an ability to replace some simple parts found to be defective.
Patience to navigate the construction issues around Montreal and a good driving record.
Experience, Education and training Needed:
The ideal candidate would have at least a Cegep or university level of education.
Ideally they would have some instruction or understanding of electronics and mechanics to be able to understand the workings of the machines we have.
Good, basic, everyday mathematical abilities.
Ideally over 25 years of age.
Other Specific Job Requirements:
You would need to be physically fit enough to easily and regularly move and deliver heavy items such as cases of soft drinks or 14Kg cases of NAYA water.
You would need to be willing to drive and navigate through downtown Montreal traffic, and construction, without stress. All the while being respectful and kind to the populace, and at the same time being just slightly aggressive enough to be able to get yourself to where you need to go in a reasonable delay.
A willingness to work Monday to Friday during regular office hours.
The ability to e-mail and video-call with your smart-phone so that you can communicate with the main office regarding delivery reports or troubleshooting requests.
Reliability. You must be trustable to do what you say you will do on a daily basis and communicate any issues. If this does not happen and you do not inform us of any shortfalls (usually these can easily be dealt with so we don’t mind them) it causes client issues that can lead to quick dismissal.
We require a relatively clean cut appearance and dress as you will be representing us as a company to our upscale clientele. You need to not seem too out of place in a professional office environment. Un-torn pants and shirts are a minimum please.
Pick-up and deliver various items and products as per instructions. Collect or make payments for goods. Load and unload goods. Use maps and other trip planning aids. Perform pre-trip inspection of vehicle.
Record trip information such as vehicle mileage, fuel costs and any problems
Maintaining the integrity of the brand by ensuring our customers are pleased with the overall experience.
Maintaining integrity in the invoicing of orders by consistently sending delivery reports as deliveries are made.
Ensuring that our clients have an enjoyable customer experience by smiling and being an asset in their workplace.
Other Notes:
Bonuses for sales while delivering are available if you have the interest in doing them, however no sales are required for the job.
There are opportunities for growth into schedule management, sales management, managing other delivery technicians, and more over time.
Ample training is provided. No previous experience is required.
Compensation: $13/hr for first 3 months moving to $15/hr thereafter.
Delivery van and gasoline is provided.
