Coordinator of Computer Courses and Room Rentals – Full-time Position (5 days/week)
The Coordinator of Computer Courses and Room Rentals reports to the Manager of Administration and Development and works cooperatively with all staff to ensure the Atwater Library and Computer Centre (the Library) fulfils its mandate of serving the public by promoting lifelong learning and building the community. The main responsibility is to develop computer courses, market proactively (including online marketing) and administer computer training and room rentals to maximize revenue while respecting the organization’s charitable mission.
Responsibilities:
Computer Courses
Developing a roster of computer and digital device courses and workshops – ranging from beginner-level to advanced – to respond to market opportunities and maximize revenue for the organization.
Fielding inquiries from the public, registering students and processing fee payments.
Creating and maintaining an electronic database of computer course students and instructors.
Assessing the Library’s market for computer and digital media training by keeping current with research and by administering questionnaires to Library patrons.
Recruiting instructors and giving them administrative support.
Designing, producing and disseminating promotional materials for computer course offerings, including a brochure for each season’s schedule through the post and by email.
Marketing computer courses and workshops online.
Ensuring that all students are given an opportunity to complete an evaluation form in confidence and maintaining a file of student evaluations and an electronic summary.
Room Rentals
Assessing the Library’s market for room rentals for a wide variety of educational, cultural and community uses.
Designing, producing and disseminating promotional materials for room rentals – both print and electronic materials.
Maintaining an electronic database of room renters.
Fielding inquiries from potential room renters, taking bookings with reference to a checklist of potential requirements, invoicing and processing damage deposits and payments, maintaining a schedule of room rentals and communicating the needs of room renters to other staff.
Scheduling and supervising set up and security for room renters, Library events and tenants
Bookkeeping and invoicing for tenants, parking renters, and the photocopier/printer used by the public.
General
Tracking and maintaining petty cash purchases.
Supervising and providing administrative support to Book Sale Room volunteers, including tracking revenue.
Opening the building in the morning for the staff and tenants.
Sharing with other staff routine tasks such as answering the phone, serving the public, giving support to volunteers, administering cash boxes, making coffee, washing dishes, keeping the work area clean and tidy, ensuring the building is well maintained, and hosting events and volunteer parties.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have a postsecondary education with a minimum of three years of relevant work experience. Preference will be given to candidates with previous experience in a supervisory role and in the not-for-profit sector.
Solid knowledge of digital technology and media with a demonstrated intention to keep abreast of new developments.
A mastery of email communications and internet applications, including Facebook.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications Word (including mail merge), Excel, and PowerPoint.
Fluency in spoken and written English.
Working knowledge of French.
Strong interpersonal skills for dealing tactfully and diplomatically with a wide variety of people.
